As kids, I believe everyone looked in the Evanston Review and learned about ETHS Sports. Here is an idea...
An annual fundraiser could enough money to reserve space in the Evanston Review and run a weekly profile (during the football season) for a player/coach of the Evanston Football program. You can see this in the Sun Times in the prep section. It asks their favorite class, what colleges they like, etc. This idea would be a grass roots effort that would give exposure to the program and reintroduce the team to the community. Also, I can imagine they're a bunch of 6th through 8th graders who would aspire to one day make the paper. I hear the teams have been thin during the past few years.
The cost of this ad space would be reasonable and attainable. In addition, if rules allow, I'm sure we could find local sponsors to pitch in. For example, EAC's (Evanston Athletic Club) Wild Kit Player/coach of the week.
This is just an idea that would create a buzz and get more kids interested in playing for a program what we were so proud to play for.
Please share your thoughts.

Let's Get Together
The new millennium has not been kind to the Evanston Football Program. Recently, Evanston hired a new coach by the name of Mike Burzawa. From what I’ve read, he has the Mitas Touch. To learn a bit about him click on this link http://www.pioneerlocal.com/evanston/sports/767633,ev-gridcoach-013108-s1.article
Yes, Dennis Mahoney is still writing for the Evanston Review.
Speaking with a number of former players, there is a lot of interest in coming together and helping this coach with the support of the players from the past.
This benefit would be a cross class product, the goal is to come together and raise money that would go directly into the Evanston Football program.
Coach Riehle is excited to help and will show his support.
The actual benefit hasn’t been determined, we’re at ground zero trying to build up interest. Please show your support and help add to the name below. We need help in getting the word out.
Let's grow this list.
Otto Ade, D Bates, Hans Bodine, Frank Barber (Basketball), Nevil Brown, Sean Denney, JohnJoe Farragher (Basketball), Ryan Evans (Basketball), Kevin Kelly (Baseball), Matt Lane (Baseball), Jean Jourdain, David Bowen, Chris Livatino,Cecil Martin, Jeremy David (baseball), Reggie Fleurima, Hugh Franklin, Jeremy Garchow, Ryan Healy, Tripp Healy, Steve Hoskins (Basketball), Nick Jakubco (Baseball), Jordan Dalton, Will Kastilahn (Baseball), Adam Salon, Rob Simmons, Wade Thomson, Scott Whitney, Steve Quan, Josh Liebman, Billy Maday, Sal Mendoza, Clark Passino, Jim Reeder, Chris Wilson, Jason Warth, and Coach Riehle.
Cheers,
